Fortnite
Normally when we see new skins coming in Fortnite, it’s through dataminers that they release early, but WB is ahead of the game, and is the first to unveil a new DC-themed bundle that’s t comes to the game this fall.
The volume “Last Laugh” includes the following for $ 30, but the catch is that this volume will not launch until November 17, 2020:
- 1000 VBucks
- Outfits: The Joker, Poison Ivy, Midas Rex
- Back leaves: Laugh Riot, Back Bloom, Midas Crest
- Pickaxes: Bad Joke, The Joker’s Revenge, Ivy Ax, Kingmaker
- Contrail: Select a map
If Midas Rex is any kind of DC reference, I do not get it, but the other two are famous DC villains. I think Two-Face as Mr. Freeze were not free?
Back when Harley Quinn got her own skin to promote Birds of Prey, we thought we might see a Joker to suit her. But Joker was not even in that movie, and now we’re waiting until November to see both him and Poison Ivy (who Harley is dating in DC’s excellent Harley Quinn animated series).
Why does this happen then? There does not appear to be a direct link to DC events happening in November. The next big DC thing is Wonder Woman 1984, except this is being delayed again, so I think this just exists to … exist. (I also expect that a Wonder Woman skin will promote Fortnite).
Marvel and DC have been doing dueling lessons in Fortnite for a few years now. This season alone, we have Aquaman as part of the battle pass, and Captain America was sold out for the Fourth of July, and recent hints indicate that Thor may be coming soon.
This bundle is probably what Fortnite will be trying to sell as their “retail” Christmas gift, which is always a hassle for a free game, hence why this is literally boxing art in the promotional image here. You can buy a physical box for your kids to unpack, and inside is a code they enter as something. This is $ 30, but really more than $ 20 because of the 1,000 V bots you get. And Fortnite can usually sell one of these skins otherwise individually for $ 15-20, so in Fortnite terms, this is actually a very good deal.
We do not have images of the rest of the items in the bundle minus Joker’s hammel, but maybe these will be out in short order. I will absolutely buy this because I own almost all of the Fortnite superhero skins, and collect them like there are action figures and I’m eight years old again.
Expecting Thor’s Marvel from Thor soon, I could imagine.
