Hopes that cars will arrive in Fortnite sooner rather than later have faded. Epic said on Twitter yesterday that it will be a few weeks before the cars hit the game.
The expectation that the cars would arrive on July 21, courtesy of data miner HypeX, did not work, but a reference to vehicle filling in this week’s challenges made it seem likely that they would arrive this week. Unfortunately it is not.
Fender Bender? # NoSweat. Did you run out of gas? That is not covered. Our attorneys are sweating the details of the policy and fixing typos like ‘otter coverage’ instead of auto coverage. Due to this, many vehicles were brought for inspection. Wait a few weeks until we are ready for the road. pic.twitter.com/6YdPara80q23 July 2020
There has been no further information on when the cars will be available, but it’s not entirely surprising to see Epic take his time with them: shopping carts and hamster balls had to be temporarily disabled when launched due to bugs, and their Mechs developed a spontaneously exploding habit, which is actually quite funny. (Maybe not so much if you’re sitting inside him right now.) I imagine the developers would rather avoid all this kind of nonsense this time.
