Fortnite update 13.30 is here, and I have the patch notes you should read to see what bug fixes and new features have been added. However, while the much-talked-about new addition everyone’s talking about, Fortnite cars, haven’t made an appearance today, we have every reason to believe they’ll be here very soon.
Season 3 kicked off with a battle pass trailer that featured not only Fortnite’s new flooded map, but also the new addition of manageable vehicles that you and your squad could use to pan the map; some lighter-looking roads appear to have emerged on the newly retouched island. So while we may have to wait a bit longer for the flagship to come on board, these are the new things we can face today.
Fortnite 13.30 update: what you need to know
While we wait to get into the Fortnite fast line, we have some Summer Splash LTM to keep going. Entering the rotation this week is Payback, Catch and One Shot. There will also be a new trap and more Floppers.
Then there’s a final Build-A-Brella challenge and a few more teamwork-related tasks, which makes sense if the cars get activated later this week, more on that later.
There are also some changes to the Fortnite Season 3 map. Eagle-eyed players will see some areas rise higher out of the water as the water levels recede – spots like Pleasant Park and Craggy Cliffs basically seem to be back to normal.
Fortnite map changes
1.30pm isn’t a great update, but it does add a new type of gas station that (we assume) will allow players to fill up the cars with fuel … when we get there later. These service stations can be found all over the map in some places.

As expected, the waterline along some minor areas has also receded. We noticed some new island stretches in the northern stretches of the map, near the lighthouse.
Fortnite 13.30 patch notes: bug fixes
While Epic Games hasn’t detailed them on their official website like they have in the past, we have an idea of what they’ve been working on thanks to their Trello dashboard. Each update features a yellow bar that says “fixed in the next game update.” So while that’s not a 100 percent confirmation that every bug fix will be included in this update, we feel pretty comfortable including them on our list.
- Permanent: The eddies are temporarily disabled, so get ready to fly back into the air.
- Permanent: Slow glider speeds after players redeploy in certain situations.
- Permanent: The XP bar is visually incorrect during matches, making players think they leveled up even when they didn’t actually level up.
- Permanent: Ocean’s Bottomless Chug Jug cannot be picked up while reloading if another player drops it.
- Permanent: Added workaround to a problem with falling supplies at the Authority location that won’t open after players search for them. If you fire it now, it should open up, says Epic.
- Permanent: A broken “collect floating rings in Steamy Stacks” challenge was replaced with a basic “search for ammo boxes in Fortilla” challenge. The problem was obviously more present on PCs with lower settings.
- Permanent: Black rectangles that appear behind the player character when they turn around in the storm.
- Permanent: A problem with the slip, including the launch pad or the Jules glider pistol, doesn’t work around the Authority.
What happened to the cars?
Epic has yet to declare anything official about the cars in Fortnite, and they still don’t appear to be in the game after the release of the Fortnite 13.30 patch notes. Even though data miner HypeX uncovered some evidence that they were coming on July 21, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before we can get behind the wheel.
However, it seems like we won’t be waiting too long if we believe in the leaked challenges of week 6. One of them, according to FNinformation, is “loading fuel into a vehicle in Catty Corner,” so that cars can be activated in the game just before the next objectives are activated on July 23.
