HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – A lucky Fort Lauderdale woman won a record slot machine prize worth more than $ 3.8 million at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood.
Ms. Laurie, who did not want to reveal her last name to the public, won a jackpot of $ 3,854,682 in the IGT Megabucks® slot game shortly after midnight on Thursday morning.
The jackpot marks the highest payout in the history of the six Seminole Gaming properties and the largest slot machine jackpot ever awarded in Florida in an IGT game.
The lucky player was on a $ 1 machine and had wagered $ 5 to win the jackpot.
“I am in absolute shock,” he said. “You like to dream big, but that’s really big. That’s not even in the stadium of what you think you can win. That is a lottery! It still feels like a dream, ”she said in a statement issued by the casino.
The woman had just celebrated her 60th birthday last week and was spending the night at the Guitar Hotel having dinner with friends at Council Oak Steaks & Seafood.
When asked what he plans to do with his earnings, he said, “We are talking about hurricane windows! We’re talking about re-lining the pool or maybe getting a better condo after retirement. ”
Since its reopening on June 12, after being closed due to COVID-19, the casino has awarded more than $ 74.8 million in prizes, including 29 prizes valued at $ 50,000 or more.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood has implemented strict safety guidelines to keep guests and employees safe from COVID-19.
Those guidelines include masks required for guests and employees within any facility, except while in the pool, eating, drinking, or smoking in designated areas. To maintain physical distance, only registered hotel guests have access to the pool. Chairs on the pool deck are separated to encourage social estrangement and management may ask guests to violate security protocols to leave.
