Former XFL QB PJ Walker to start for Panthers with Teddy Bridgewater injured

CHARLOTTE, NC – Former XFL star PJ Walker will start the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

Taker will replace Bridgewater with Walker, who was placed on the inactive list after undergoing two rigorous bias sessions to test his right knee a week ago for a loss in Tampa Bay.

This will be Wal’s first NFL debut. He has played twice since Bridgewater left with injuries, completing 3-8 pass attempts for 15 yards.

He will be backed by Will Gear, who was elected in the third round in 2019, who was 0-2 as a starter when he injured Cam Newton last year.

The COVID-19 epidemic signed the Werker se fission before the end of the season after leading the Houston Rafnex to a 5-0 record. It was part of Carolina coach Matt Rule’s rebuilding program at the temple from 2013 to ’17.

The decision to give Bridgewater a bench had to do with saving his left knee, which was badly damaged in 2016 when he was a starter in Minnesota because it was like his right knee. There was concern that it could put more strain on the left knee if placed in a self-defense position.

Bridgewater will return next week when the Panthers (–7) face the Vikings.

That the Panthers are under two starters on the offensive line – left-hander Russell Okung and right-back John Miller – was also a factor sitting Bridgewater. Rule has made it clear over the past few days that bridgewater should be able to defend itself if under severe pressure.

Roulette, owner David Tapper, general manager Marty Herni and abusive coordinator Rad Brady, who had come out for a drill twice before the bridgewater game, were watching.
