Former Washington general manager Scot McCloughan defends Dan Snyder – The Athletic


Former Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan spent part of his Friday afternoon at a lake near his Colorado home with two things in mind: how to lure Walleye to his fishing pole and how to help defend his former boss Dan Snyder.

The former makes sense for a relaxing hobby, even if one is challenged to imagine that the leading NFL Draft talent screener doesn’t review the game tape. As for endorsing Snyder, to many familiar with his departure from Washington, that sounds like the best fish story.

McCloughan’s more than two-year career as general manager of Washington ended with a chaotic dismissal in March 2017, and improperly anonymous quotes by a member of the organization to local media when his dismissal was made public.

However, McCloughan briefly stopped focusing on the yellow pike to pick up his cell phone, call a journalist, and praise a man who received rampaging criticism after 17 women, including 15 team employees allege sexual and verbal abuse …
