A former senior official in the Trump administration on Monday nominated former vice president Joe Biden for president.
Miles Taylor, who served as chief of staff at Homeland Security’s department, said in a video read by Biden that working under the current administration was “terrible.”
“What we saw week in and week out, for me, after two and a half years in that administration, was appalling. We would go in to talk to him about an urgent national security issue – cyberattack, threat of terrorism. He was ‘News’ interested in those things. For him, they were not priorities, “Taylor said in the video, which was produced by the group of Republican voters against Trump.
Taylor said many of the things President Donald Trump wanted DHS to do were impossible and in some cases illegal. He characterized the president as vindictive and even central.
“Given what I’ve experienced in the administration, I need to support Joe Biden for president. And although I’m not a Democrat, although I do not agree on important issues, I’m sure Joe Biden will protect the country, and “I’m sure he’s not making the same mistakes as this president,” Taylor, who was with DHS from 2017 to 2019, added in the video.

Taylor also wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post, in which he said Trump was trying to turn DHS into a “tool used to his political advantage.”
“Trump’s indiscipline was also a constant source of frustration … The decision-making itself was broken,” Taylor wrote.
“It’s more than a little ironic that Trump is campaigning for a second term as president of rights and order. His first term has been dangerously chaotic. Four years more of this is unthinkable,” he added.
The White House missed Taylor’s distinction of Biden.
“This individual is another creature of the DC swamp who never understood the importance of the president’s agenda, or why the American people chose him and clearly just wanted to appreciate him,” said a spokesman for it. White House Judd Deere regarding Taylor, according to Forbes reporter Andrew Solender.
Anthony Scaramucci, whose tenure as director of communications for Trump was extremely short-lived, also signed Biden.
While other former senior officials of the senior administration have publicly condemned Trump in recent months, including former National Security Adviser John Bolton and former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, they have briefly stopped giving a full screening of Biden. Bolton recently told political correspondent Insider Sonam Sheth that he would not vote for Trump or Biden.
“I will not vote for Biden for philosophical reasons, and I will not vote for Trump for philosophical reasons and because he is not competent,” Bolton said. The former national security adviser told Sheth that he was thinking of enrollment candidates, but did not point to one in particular.
