Former Portland Trail Blazers star Clifford Robinson has died at the age of 53


Clifford Robinson, the former NBA All-Star and 1993’s sixth man of the year, has died at the age of 53, Yukon Hughes confirmed on Saturday. On Twitter.

Robinson, known for his trademark headband, spent 18 seasons in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Net. He played in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game and was named to two other NBA All-Defensive teams, averaging 14.6 points and 6.6 rebounds in 1,380 career games – the 13th largest in NBA history.

Robinson also won the NIT title at Yukon, retiring his number 00 in 2007.

“He was our first great player,” former Yukon coach Jim Calhoun told Hearst Media. “He came from a difficult background in Buffalo, I saw him evolve as a man. … He was a good man, he had a good career, and he was instrumental in many of the great things that happen in the Yukon.”
