Former Patriots run to reunite Tom Brady to face bookness chargers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady could share backfield with a somewhat familiar face on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

And no, not even Kevin Fulk, Lagaret Blunt or Mike Gillesley.

Buchanan, Kenj ran to Ken Barner for the team’s 53-man roster, according to the team. Barner’s promotion from the practice squad comes after a running back injury to Leonard Fornett, who has been ruled out of the Week 4 contest.

Barner played five games with Brady and the Patriots during the 2018 season. He averaged 7.7 yards-rush in New England and reached 191 yards to 711 yards.

Barner was on the Patriots’ 53-man roster for 4 to 9 weeks before joining the Carolina Panthers later that season.

The 30-year-old Bucks played only one match in the game, a 3-week win over the Denver Broncos, but he only checked four special teams.

Tampa Bay is the fifth team to play Barner since 2013.

The Books-Chargers contest is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m., ET.
