Former Memphis player signs Mike Norvell

FSU head coach Mike Norvell dealt with a lot of opposition before coaching his first game. A former player says he is making FSU great again.

FSU football is a team in transition, and there will be bumps in the road. A great program that is downward trend, a fan base that is tired of losses, and a coach that builds it all together.

A new coach taking over a program is not an easy task, and not to mention if you are a coach who is new to big-time football.

FSU is not Memphis or Arizona State. It is one of the major brands in all of college football. That’s not to say Mike Norvell has been bad since he was hired. I would argue that he did a great job a few weeks back in addition to the Marvin Wilson issue he is tackling. Although, I would generally like to see better recruitment in the trenches!

It will take time for him to put his fingerprints all over the program, when players he has not recruited can still not trust him.

I can not blame some of the players because they have been passed on a lot, but there is the right way to do things too. Former Memphis player Kedarian Jones said a mouthful responded to a tweet from FSU wide receiver Warren Thompson that started a firestorm on social media on Thursday morning:

Jones played wide receiver for Mike Norvell at Memphis and collected 39 receptions for 609 yards and four touchdowns his senior year last season. I have said that this program has been gentle in recent years and that someone calls it “spoon-fed” is the same thing.

I do not think anyone is lenient about using their platform for the right things, but the overwhelming majority of players do not support what Thompson said, nor have they confirmed it.

I translate this because Jones says some players seek attention because they do not like how things are different compared to the last few years?
