Former Houston police captain accused air conditioner repairman of showing a gun, believing he was a voter fraud ‘mastermind’

Prosecutors say former Houston Police Captain Mark Anthony Aguirre said he believes the man casts a fraudulent ballot.

“I believe it’s a political act,” Tegu Yates, Ag Guer’s attorney, told CNN-affiliated KTRK.

Prosecutors say Aguirre was paid a quarter of a million dollars by a private group called the “Liberty Center for God and Country” to investigate alleged ballot schemes in the Houston area.

Hotz has reached out to CNN for comment.

According to a district attorney’s news release, Aguirre, 63, told authorities he had been on surveillance for four days while driving a truck on a stranger, in which he suspected 750,000 had been defrauded inside. The publication said Aguirre believed the man was “the mastermind behind the massive (voter) fraud.”

Instead the plaintiff says the victim is an “innocent and normal” air conditioner repairman.

Describing the October 19 incident in a news release, he said, “Aguir drove the back of his SUV truck to stop and get the technician out.” “When the technician got out of the truck, u Guer, pointed a handgun at the technician, pushed him to the ground and placed his knees on the man’s back, an image captured in a camera packed into the body of a police officer.”

Responding officers found no ballot papers inside the vehicle, only air conditioner parts and equipment, the prosecution said.

After an investigation, Houston police said they found the allegations of election fraud “baseless” and sent the case to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors allege Aguirre was paid more than $ 260,000 by the “Liberty Center” group, which received about 1 211,400 the day after the incident.

He was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, punishable by up to 20 years in prison in the second phase. He is currently in the Harris County Jail facility with a bond of 30 30,000.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement that “he crossed the line from dirty politics to violent crime and we are fortunate that no one was killed.” “His alleged investigation was backwards from the beginning – first he alleged the crime had happened and then he was trying to prove it.”

“He was working and was investigating voter fraud when there was an accident. What do you cite in the affidavit? “

Prosecutors’ statement about Guerrero’s arrest came a day after the Electoral College voted to endorse Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States.

Despite the announcement of election results by media outlets and government officials, outgoing President Donald Trump continues to claim widespread voter fraud during the 2020 election, and raised millions of dollars for a legitimate defense fund, despite official credentials. Former Vice President Joe Biden won the presidential election.
