“Mustang Sally” is not that.
Ford has teamed up with electronic music artist Matthew Deere to create a song by remixing the “engine” sounds of the electric Mustang Mach Mach-in, which is already electronic.
The car plays a synthetic audio audio track in and out of the cabin when you drive to make up for the lack of noise generated by its electric motors. The noise is based on the mode in which the car is, depending on the malfunction of some V8 engines. Priya’s experimental track is called the “new breed”, because, you know, it’s an electric horse.
The multi-layered lyric track goes, “By changing two names from the module,” you can come up with a mess, or find a time to join. “Electric and impulsive. I’m a new breed.”
The song is currently available on most major streaming media platforms. A Ford representative said it was a standalone project and did not currently plan to use it in any of the traditional commercials for cars.
We’ll see how the four-door mach-e inspires vanilla ice to the 21st century version of its 1990 V8 Mustang tribute, “Rollin in My 5.0”.
