Ford engine company (NYSE: F) will unveil the latest version of its best-selling F-150 pickup this week with features like an on-board generator and reclining seat.

What happened

Ford vice president of marketing, sales and service Mark LaNeve said the new F-150 “would set a new standard in terms of capacity, torque, payload and trailer.” [Ford’s] trucking customers need, “Fox Business reported

LaNeve also announced a hybrid version with an on-board generator that can power a workplace or home “for a short period of time.”

The Ford executive confirmed the presence of a sleeper seat and said, “Our trucking clients work hard for a living. You have to take a little nap in the middle of the day … and you can stay in bed.

The automaker posted a preview of its latest truck on Twitter on Tuesday before the scheduled reveal Thursday.

Because it is important

The F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981, and the company sold 900,000 F-series trucks in 2019.

The truck to be released Thursday is the 14th generation of the F-150. The last major redesign took place in 2014 and was updated in 2017, Business Insider notes.

Truck competitors include General Motors Company’s (NYSE: GM) Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, as well as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s (NYSE: FCAU) RAM 1500.

According to LaNeve, Ford will offer an electric battery truck in two years.

The popularity of the F-150 can be measured by the fact that Trevor Milton, founder of Nikola Corporation (NASDAQ: NKLA) wants to wrest the crown from him and emerge as a favorite.

Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) is also getting on the truck bandwagon and hopes to launch its Cybertruck in 2021 or 2022. The automaker expects 650,000 pre-orders.

On Tuesday, Ford shares closed 2.07% less at $ 6.15.
