Ford casts a shadow over quality on Tesla, calling its electric vehicles a ‘compromise’

The head of Ford’s electrification effort has cast some serious shadows on Tesla over quality issues and has promised that you won’t have to compromise with Ford’s electric vehicles.

Dr. Dar Ren Palmer, one of the original members of Ford’s Edison team who commissioned the design of the brand’s first all-electric vehicle and now head of Ford and Lincoln’s battery-electric vehicle development, made some interesting comments in a new interview.

In an interview with Ob Toblog in the early days of the Mustang Mach K-in, Palmer said electric vehicle buyers still have to compromise and admit some “mistakes”.

He said:

“Doors fit properly, color-matching plastic and other materials, bumpers don’t fall down, the roof doesn’t close when you wash it, door handles don’t get stuck in cold weather. ”

While executives did not mention Tesla by name, many of these quality issues are often associated with the brand.

He says buyers will not have to “compromise” with Ford’s electric vehicles.

Take the electric

It would be easy to respond with just “yes too” and list all the things that Tesla does better than Ford when it comes to electric vehicles because there are plenty.

Tesla vehicles have a longer range, can charge faster and are more efficient than Ford’s new Mustang Mach-E.

But Palmer also has an issue here. If we know that he is talking about Tesla without naming and only listing the quality issues associated with the brand, he tells us that Tesla has quality problems.

Tesla’s fast speed has also had some quality problems and we’ve seen it especially in early 2020 new car launches like the Model Y, and when Tesla’s late-quarter push comes when the automaker tries to deliver a very large number of cars. Short term.

The automaker should definitely work on it, but at the same time, this rapid pace is also what drives innovation and results in Tesla achieving industry-leading specs with its EV, especially when it comes to functionality and range.

Some people will always prefer it while others will prefer to go with Ford and potentially avoid those quality issues.

I think the two companies should look at each other for improvement here and I am excited for the possibility of a new EV competition to enhance the overall quality of the new electric vehicles.
