Ford Bronco pickup truck coming to Jeep Gladiator: report

Following the Ranger’s return to the United States in 2018 and Maverick’s debut next year, it looks like Ford will be improving its truck game in addition to a Bronco-based truck. A new report from Automobile Magazine It claims that the off-road SUV will gain a bed in mid-2024, making it a 2025MY.

While that is a long way off, Blue Oval is interested in speeding up the development of the model and bringing the launch date forward to 2022. At best, the Jeep Gladiator competitor will end up as 2023MY, with the entire SUV off-road. . Expect GOAT driving modes, the Sasquatch package, and almost the same wide variety of trim levels.

Just like Jeep is doing with the Wrangler-based Gladiator, Ford apparently wants to sell the Bronco truck exclusively with four doors, at a base price of about $ 30,000. A fully-charged limited-charge First Edition is planned in the same vein as the immensely popular special version of the Bronco SUV, but it will cost you roughly double the entry-level model.

When it comes to engines, the sleeper-equipped Bronco is expected to feature the well-known 2.3-liter four-cylinder and 2.7-liter six-cylinder turbocharged gasoline units. The report goes on to mention that the Bronco Raptor’s 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, still to be confirmed, will not be coming to the truck, but don’t worry, as there is apparently something even heavier on the agenda. A 5.0-liter V8 is rumored to be destined for the Bronco flagship truck, though that remains to be seen.

The gearboxes will include the usual suspects, namely the seven-speed manual and the 10-speed automatic. If a V8-powered Bronco truck is really on the agenda, it will probably come exclusively with a two-pedal setup.

A Bronco pickup would be an interesting decision made by Ford considering there is a risk of cannibalizing the Ranger’s sales. The latter is expected to switch to a new generation starting next year and get a US-bound Raptor derivative powered by a 2.7-horsepower, 325-liter V6, but nothing is official right now. .
