- The newly launched Ford Bronco points directly to the Jeep Wrangler.
- Both are square and off-road vehicles.
- The crossover is causing some Wrangler fans to get mad at the Bronco memes appearing on Jeep Wrangler’s Facebook groups, causing a rift.

With a square design, large off-road tires and all the appropriate off-road hardware, it is obvious that the Ford Bronco 2021 is aimed directly at the Jeep Wrangler. Which should be fine. After all, healthy competition generates innovation. Except that it seems like Jeep fans aren’t happy about that on the Jeep Wrangler online forums and Facebook groups.
Cars, like everything else that has a fan following, generally have dedicated online forums and groups where fans and owners meet to exchange tips, share stories, and hang out.
One of the biggest Jeep Wrangler forums, JLWranglerForums.com, is a lively community of everything about Jeep Wranglers, but a look at its most recent thread listing as of Wednesday’s writing shows a lot of chatter about the newly released one. Rough. For good reason, since the two will surely occupy the same share of the market. But some threads seemed to carry a surprising amount of vitriol.
User Stormin ‘Moorman asked, “Are we saluting the new Broncos?” referring to the “Jeep Wave”: a famous wave that Jeep owners use to recognize each other.
“I’m kidding, calm down. LOL,” Stormin ‘Moorman replied to his own thread immediately after posting.
Another user, aldo98229, replied, “Yes. But with a twist,” and included a GIF of a man giving the middle finger with both hands.
“I will respect anyone who drives him off the road,” wrote user Rocket_Matt. “I’ll even go over there to check it out and talk to the drivers. But it’s a Jeep wave for a reason.”
VNT also replied, “Oh no, but I won’t have that problem for at least a year and I bet Ford ruins its launch like the new one. [Explorer] launched last year, so maybe we won’t see many until 2022. “
In private Jeep groups on Facebook, a collection of Bronco memes is circulating. A member, who was granted anonymity by Business Insider to protect them from harassment and targeting, posted screenshots:
The memes seemed to annoy other members.
“You should post that on a Bronco page and stay there, this is a Jeep page,” wrote one.
“For God’s sake and all that is sacred, yes, Ford will return with the Bronco, and if you love it that much, join a Bronco page, but stop posting them on all Jeep pages!?!?” another asked.
Yet another created a poll, asking members what they think group administrators should do when members post or share anything related to Bronco. Most of the votes went to: “Locate the person who publishes it. Learn his routine. Sneak into his garage in the middle of the night and trade in his Jeep for a Prius.”
When asked if the outrage was real, the unidentified member told Business Insider, “I think the outrage is real from some owners.”
“I love memes. If you can’t make fun of yourself, then you’re not a true fan. That goes in any car community, not just this one,” he added.
This member is also not just a casual observer lurking in these Facebook groups. He bought his first JK generation Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon in 2013. “The 40 months I had was the most fun I had in a vehicle,” he said. “There was nothing better than having the top or top and the doors closed and navigating the coast. It was slow, it was hard, but it was the most carefree thing I have ever felt behind the wheel.”
Currently, he owns a Jrang 2018 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon.
However, despite being a huge Jeep fan, he also recognizes the Bronco’s enormous potential. He says the Bronco has better powertrain options, mirrors that stay in the vehicle after the doors are removed, modular roof options, off-road packages that are available across the entire model line, a host of color options. and interiors, and the latest technology.
“I love the new Bronco,” he said. “There’s a lot to be envied. Ford did his homework and swayed. He wanted first place and I think he really thought of everything it took to take that place away from Jeep. They took the Wrangler, listened to the owner’s complaints and wishes, and incorporated them into the new Bronco. “
When asked if he thought the Bronco would end up stealing Jeep customers, he said:
“Yes, I think Jeep will lose many owners to the Bronco,” said the member. “We had no other choice before. We have a very good alternative now.”
In fact, both dealerships and Ford executives reported high demand for the Bronco during the first week the reservation books were opened, The Detroit News reports. Although Ford does not report how many $ 100 deposits are generally collected, a dealer in Phoenix, Arizona said it has already received more than 500 deposits.
The biggest missing piece now is how the Bronco drives. Will it capture the driving experience and charm of the Wrangler? Will you get over it?
“People buy Jeeps for what they can do, not necessarily what they will do,” said the member.
Business Insider asked if the member was going to greet future Bronco owners.
“Hell yeah, I’m going to say hello to the Bronco owners,” he replied.
