Wednesday night, Florida State Seminoles wide receiver DJ Matthews tweeted that he tested positive for COVID 19:
Although Florida State did not share photos of the receiver at the practice as part of its releases to the media, it was indicated that Matthews still received reps as a returner on special teams.
From our broad receiver example:
The senior is back for his final season in Tallahassee and hopes to put it all together. There are times when Matthews seems like the most exciting player on the field. Then he will disappear later. Part of the inconsistency can be attributed to the wack-a-mol rotation at quarterback, but there is often a clear lack of focus translating from the practice field to game days.
As a point-returner, DJ looked like one of the best returners in the country for two seasons before a dip in his production last year
The deleted tweet comes just a day after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met with Florida President John Thrasher, athletic director David Coburn, Florida State Seminoles football head Mike Norvell and players Joshua Kaindoh and Keysahwn Helton today as part of a roundtable discussion on the viability of holding of a season 2020 college football.
Coburn recommends the protocols that players follow:
‘When they come in the morning, they check temperature and symptom, they have to answer a set of questions and then they are bound. And they are kept separate from the rest of the athletic department staff. They are socially distant in their meetings. They are required to wear masks throughout the building and on the way to and from practice. So we’re testing weekly now and we’ll probably go after the two week testing. Anyone who gets a positive test result, we work hard on them. And we did that. We will continue this. That we are very comfortable that we have done what the medical people have … in fact, above and beyond what the medical people have advised. “
Tomahawk Nation has reached the confirmation to the school, and will update with a response.
