Florida Reports Record Single-Day Increase in Coronavirus Cases


Florida reported 9,585 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, beating the state’s previous record of 8,942 infections in a single day, set last Friday, according to the Washington Post.

By the numbers: The total number of Florida cases totals more than 130,000 as of Saturday night. The state confirmed nearly 9,000 the day before.

What’s going on: All alcohol consumption in bars will be suspended throughout the state, effective immediately, the secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation announced on Twitter on Friday.
