Florida mother shot in the middle of her children’s Zoom class

A 10-year-old Florida girl took her first online class home when her mother was shot dead in front of her, police said Wednesday.

The mother of the young student, Maribel Morales-Rosado, 32, was allegedly killed by her angry ex-boyfriend Donald Williams, 27, at her home in Indiantown Tuesday morning – during an attack witnessed via Zoom by the girl’s teacher , according to tcpalm.com.

‘The teacher said she heard a call, heard wickedness, realized there was some kind of domestic change, [but] still could see the child online, ”Martin County Sheriff William Snyder told the outlet.

There were also other students on call.

“The teacher said she mutes her button so no one hears it and then she sees the 10-year-old put her hands around her ears,” he said – in an apparent reference to the sound of gunfire.

The child’s computer screen then went dark because it was hit by a projectile, Snyder said, adding that at the time, there were a total of six children ages 10 to 17 in the house.

Williams allegedly confronted his ex-girlfriend about a video – possibly one posted on Facebook – before he hit the trigger of a handgun that may have been stolen, according to Snyder.

“He went inside and confronted her with something to do with a video,” Snyder said. “And later we learned that there was a conversation about Facebook.”

The angry ex then fled by bike to a laundromat before getting on the bus, according to the outlet. But with the help of the bus driver, he was arrested about 40 minutes after the shooting and charged with first-degree murder, the outlet reported.

Morales-Rosado was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, where she died.

It was her daughter’s first day of school at Warfield Elementary School.
