Florida mayors promise stricter coronavirus rules as cases increase

Mayors of seven cities in Florida’s Miami-Dade County promise to toughen their coronavirus rules.

Part of the new implementation of measures will require residents to wear facial covers to any part of the public, according to statements made at a press conference in front of the Miami City Council.

CORONAVIRUSES: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Miami, Hialeah, Miami Gardens, North Miami Beach, Miami Shores, Aventura and Key Biscayne will require people to wear masks at all times in public, the Miami Herald reported, but the announcement did not address whether masks would be needed for things like exercise.

An emergency order in Miami outlining the rules is expected to be signed in the coming days.

FAUCI: THE NIGHTMARE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC IS FAR FROM FINISH

“This is what has to happen. We have to take this more seriously, ”Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert said at the conference. We know that the natural and likely consequence of more higher positive infections is more hospitalizations. The more hospitalizations you have, the more people will eventually use ventilators. The more people use fans, the more people will eventually die. So we are talking about this. “

Mayors in eight other cities in the state failed to adopt the mask rule, but said they would enforce stricter rules. The State Department of Health identified 4,049 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the highest number in the state so far. There are more than 100,217 with 3,173 deaths.
