A handcuffed Florida man in police custody drowned Sunday when he escaped an officer and went into Boka Siga Bay, officials said.
Brownlow Jr., 33, was arrested by police on Sunday evening in response to reports of a domestic disturbance at Treasure Island, near Tampa Bay.
Brownlow was arrested while driving a domestic battery, obstruction, offense when the license was suspected or revoked and for breach of probation. He was then taken to the Treasure Island Police Department to wait for a prison transport van.

“Investigators say Brownlow was released from the officer while transporting in a van and handcuffs, Boca Siga ran into the bay and jumped into the water,” according to a news release published by the Pinelas County Sheriff’s Office.
Paramedics will do CPR by pulling the brownos out of the water, deputies said. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 9:40 p.m.
The medical examiner’s office fee will be a topsy, although the sheriff’s office fee said his death did not appear to be suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.

According to Phoenix 13 Tampa Bay, Brownlow had a history with law enforcement in Pinelas County in 2013.

Earlier arrests involved fleeing and disembarking a police officer, vicious batteries, child neglect, multiple DUIs and driving on a suspended or revoked license, the station reported.
