Florida man describes his son’s desperate call in Polk County triple homicide case

It was a phone call that a Florida man feared receiving from his son.

“Help,” Brandon Rollins told his father Cyril Rollins, according to authorities.

Brandon Rollins, 27, and two longtime friends, Keven Springfield, 30, and Damion Tillman, 23, were killed in Frostproof, Florida, on Friday night. But before Rollins died he called his father.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the three men were “massacred” in the woods near Lake Street after parking their two trucks to fish. He described the crime scene as “horrible” and said that the killers were at large.

“I was so upset last night that I didn’t know what to do,” Cyril Rollins said in an interview with WFLA-TV.

On his son’s call, Cyril Rollins said: “We heard some background and they worried about all that, but I left, I was still here.”

He also told the station: “When I arrived I was looking for my son. It was a disaster. I found my son. I was hugging him. He was telling me what happened, but I was too surprised to know what was happening. “

The elder Rollins has revealed what his son told investigators, Judd said, but at the moment they are not revealing details.

Rollins was sleeping when his son called. After finding her son, she drove to a gas station and called 911. She had left her cell phone at home when she ran out of the house, Judd said.

WFLA also interviewed Brandon Rollins’ mother, who is determined to see justice done.

“I know you can’t bring my son back, but I just want to see something done,” said Dottie Payton. “This was horrible.”

The family said Brandon was an avid fisherman and hunter of wild pigs. Payton said his son went fishing almost every night.

“I moved here from Jacksonville, Florida, because of him two years ago and that’s not how it was supposed to be and I want justice for him. And I won’t stop until I understand, “he said.
