Florida Gators basketball player Quenta Johnson breathes a sigh of relief and speaks after collapsing on the court

In a statement on Tuesday, Nika and Marex Johnson revealed that their son had made a facetime call with his teammates.

The parents said, “We get a lot of love and support from everyone, and we are grateful for the care and attention Kinten has given us over the last several days.”

According to ESPNU broadcasters, Johnson was heading to court after the deadline early Saturday’s game against the Florida State Seminoles. He was taken off the floor on a stretcher and taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where a team spokesman announced that Johnson’s condition was serious but stable.

The team’s statement said Johnson’s parents traveled to Tallahassee on Sunday to stay with their son, joining Florida head coach Mike White and associate athletic director Dave Werner on Johnson’s side, the team’s statement said. On Monday, Johnson was transferred to UF Health in Gainesville where he is still listed in critical but stable condition.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Johnson, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, has averaged 19.7 points and 6 rebounds per game this season. He had 5 points before the crash, which left his apparently shaken teammate and coach in prayer before the game started after he left the court. Florida State won the game 83-71.

Due to the circumstances surrounding Johnson, the Gators announced Tuesday that they have reached an agreement with the University of North Florida Sp Spray to postpone the basketball game scheduled for Wednesday.
