MIAMI (AP) – South Florida Congressman-elect Carlos Gimenez has tested positive for the coronavirus, his campaign announced Friday.
The former mayor of Miami-Dade County and his wife, Lourdes, tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday after experiencing mild symptoms, a statement said. Gimenez served as Miami-Dade mayor from 2011 until this month. The Republican won his congressional race In the November 3 general election, he defeated the one-term Democrat. He will assume office on January 3.
