Has the screen of your iPhone been a bit sick lately? A software update may just be the medicine it needs.

There have been reports of green-tinted iPhone screens cropping up since as far back as June. According to users experiencing the break, the green display shows for a few seconds only when the phone is switched on or when it switches to Dark Mode or Night Shift.

The bug seems to be affecting the iPhone X and iPhone 11, 11 Pro in the first place and 11 Max, but it has also appeared on other iOS devices with iOS 13.4, 13.4.1, 13.5 or 13.5.1.

The good news is that you do not have to send your device to Apple’s repair service to fix the problem.—Install the iOS 13.6.1 update and the green distortion would have to go away.

Nobody knows why your iPhone is searching green

The break may be fixed, but itcause is another mystery. According to Apple’s iOS / iPadOS 13.6.1 patch notes, a software-based thermal management problem causes the instantaneous discoloration of the display, but the exact mechanism it provides you screen that peek tint (and how Apple established it) remains unclear.

I’ve seen some speculative forums that there might be issue for hardware throttling involved, but the problem has many occurrences when using the screen less power, no more. That the hardware then speeds up to repair it does not make much sense.

Other fixes

The iOS / iPadOS 13.6.1 patch does not work exactly compare the sick screen shade. It also fixes a few other iPhone / iPad bugs, so it’s worth installing the patch, even if you have not experienced it green display problem.

One of the bug fixes is a frustrating bug for data storage Unnecessary system files are not automatically deleted – which iOS is meant to do when a device is running low on free storage space – causing iPhones to fill up with junk files. The patch also fixes a bug that disables COVID-19 exposure notifications.

You can also update your iPhone or iPad to the latest software version by going to Settings> General> Software Update.
