SALT LAKE CITY – The first Utah has received the COVID-19 vaccine outside of a clinical trial, officials said Tuesday.
The vaccination took place at Utah Hospital University on Tuesday morning. An intensive care unit nurse named Christie was the first person in Utah to receive the vaccine, U.S. health officials said on Twitter. At least other health care workers were inoculated shortly after Christie, a Facebook live video show.

U.S. health officials are due to speak at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon about the vaccination.
Frontline health care workers are the first to receive the vaccine this month. Residents and staff at the long-term care facilities, as well as teachers, will also be in the first wave of Utahns being inoculated, health officials said.
Interim Health Care will also begin vaccinating workers at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City this afternoon.
About 154,000 doses of the vaccine will reach Utah this month.
