The first renowned Pixel 5 renders have now leaked, revealing what looks like a remix of a very well-known design seen earlier.
We have already seen some less reliable renders appear online, but this time renders have come with courtesy of the man with the best discussion so far. Steve Hemmestoffer, alias, @OnLeaks shared the high-resolution renderers in collaboration with Indian outlet PriceBaba.
[Update 08/23]: Another series of renderers are shared by @OnLeaks in collaboration with 91Mobiles. This time of the Google Pixel 4a 5G – which is expected to launch in the coming months alongside the Pixel 5. The Pixel 4a 5G renderers do not spend too much more than what has been seen with the recent live images that leaked the design of the upcoming smartphone duo.
That we know, thanks to that leak that the duo will be mainly differentiated by size, although we also believe that materials and features will be core differentiators between the more “affordable” Pixel 4 5G and the slightly more “premium” Pixel 5.
Just refresh your memory if you have not yet seen the spec spec for the Pixel 4 5G. We expect a 3800mAh battery, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, at least 6GB of RAM, dual-camera rear camera setup with 12.2-megapixel main sensor with 0.5x wide lens, 1x standard lens (same lens as Pixel 4), a 60Hz 6.1 0r 6.2 -inch OLED display, plastic construction similar to that of the standard Pixel 4a, rear fingerprint scanner, and headphone jack.
We also expect a nice attractive starting price of $ 499 for the Google Pixel 4a 5G, which is a premium of $ 150 over the recently released Google Pixel 4a. With leaks starting to increase, we expect to learn even more in the coming weeks.
The design feels like a combination of the recently released Pixel 4a and the Pixel 4, and takes the best of both designs and merges them into one device. So what can we pick up from these Pixel 5 renders that we do not already know? Well, in all honesty, nothing really big, because Google even revealed some design bits at the unveiling of the Pixel 4a a few weeks ago.
Fans of the physical fingerprint reader will be delighted as the rear-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader is set to return, while the square camera bump featured for the first time on the Pixel 4 and 4 XL was seen last year is set to return, according to the renders.
The expected specifications of the Google Pixel 5 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G-enabled chipset, at least 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, and battery sizes are not yet known. Again, these are still rumored, but the Pixel 5 renderers suggest that the device will measure in at 5.7 to 5.8 inches with a punch-hole notch above left that mimics that of the Pixel 4a.
We believe there will be no Pixel 5 XL model this year. Instead, we will be seeing the Pixel 4a 5G slot in that space for those who want to charge a larger smartphone with display. While the Pixel 5 renders a familiar design shown by our own digs, we do know, however, that this device probably differentiates itself from the Pixel 4a 5G by incorporating some exclusive software features such as reverse wireless charging – like battery sharing.
It is also expected to come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, among which we are sure there will be a few other notable deviations – including no headphone jack. Fortunately, we already have a good idea of pricing, as Google promised that the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 will start at $ 499.
