Fire truck rammed into Brooklyn building, injuring 6

A New York City fire truck, which crashed in Brooklyn, collided with another car before crashing into a storefront last Sunday night, officials said.

Five firefighters were taken to NYU Lutheran Medical Center and listed in stable condition after the crash at 11:29 p.m. in the Borough’s Gravisand neighborhood, officials said.

The FDNY truck was two miles from its destination when it caught fire on the 8750 Bay Parkway, collided with a car and then handled it at the children’s clothing store Coquette Kids at 439 Avenue U, officials said.

The driver was injured and taken to Memonides Medical Center with minor injuries, according to FDNY.

A spokesman for the city’s buildings department said six residents of the apartment above the store were evicted if the building was not stable.

The agency ordered both 7 437 and 9439 Avenue U to be completely vacated, saying the latter property could be unsafe “due to a truck strike” and “extensive damage.”
