The flight from Calgary to Toronto was canceled this week following a controversy over an unsuspecting child.
Canadian airline WestJet said it had to cancel the flight early Tuesday because two parents on the plane refused to put a mask on their 3-year-old child, CBC News reported.
Airlines and the Canadian government require all passengers aged 2 and over to wear a mask as a safety precaution against coronavirus.
The elegant Air P A Sanger, removed for a ‘scattered’ flight, asks the leading flight to wear a face mask.
WestJet did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News.
The airline told CBC News that the crew called officers after passengers refused to comply with the order and then refused to disembark.
“Due to the sharp escalation of the situation on board, our crew felt uncomfortable operating and the flight was subsequently canceled,” an airline spokesman told CBC News.
However, one of the parents, Safwan Chaudhary, said his 3-year-old daughter was actually wearing a mask and, according to reports, the controversy was over their 19-month-old daughter. He said the airlines ’actions were disappointing and he apologized.

That apology may not come soon. The airline disputed Chaudhry’s story and told CBC News that the family, who were traveling on an employee’s travel pass, had their Westjet travel features canceled. It was also revoking travel privileges for the employee who provided them with benefits. But he apologized to other passengers who were affected by the cancellation of the travel plan.
“We are disappointed that the issue eventually ended with the flight being canceled for all the guests on board,” a spokesman told CBC News.

WestJet announced last month that its zero-tolerance mask policy Sept. 1 will be implemented. Warned that any guests who did not comply with this rule could face penalties, including not being allowed on board, by disembarking. And a one-year ban from his aircraft.
“Canadian passengers and all employees of our WestJet Group count on us to keep them safe and doing so is our priority,” WestJet CEO Ed Sims said in a written statement.
