FIFA 21 makes some great and needs improvements to the career mode

Today, EA announced the changes and improvements being made in career mode for FIFA 21. And unlike previous years, EA actually makes some big and noticeable improvements to the forgotten mode. To accompany the blowout of information, it has also unveiled a brand new trailer that looks at a more superficial level of mode, which can be peeped at the top of the article.

Included in the improvements and changes are player development, match swimming, transfers, training, AI, schedules, and match sharpness. Gives one of them the complexity and depth axis Football Manager? No, not even close, but it’s definitely a big step in the right direction.

Below you can read an official and quick overview of the important changes and improvements:

  • Interactive Match Sim: A whole new way to play out your season. Go in and out of gameplay during games to control the outcome of the game, change the course of a game by controlling key moments such as penalties and free kicks, and make changes directly from the sim as you check your players’ performance levels and match control stats.
  • Player Development: Enjoy more control over the growth of your players in FIFA 21. New position training lets you turn right backs into right wingers, goal-scoring midfielders into false 9s, and more, while new development plans allow you to focus your squad’s development in areas that you want to match your team’s style of play.
  • Match sharpness and active training: Gain more insight into your squad’s performance levels with sharpness in the game, a new attribute that indicates how likely your players are at the most crucial moments in the course of a game. Increase sharpness with a new Active Training System that gives you the ability to set up group training sessions to improve the chances of your attackers leaving big chances, or of defenders taking the important approach that makes the difference between winning and losses.
  • Schedule planning: Plan your team’s training schedule with a new activity management system. Decide when you will train and when to rest during the week, as you balance the sharpness of your players with morale and fitness to fire your team on all cylinders.
  • Overhauled Opposition AI: Improved opposition AI sees opponents approach games with more intelligence in both defense and offense. New systems make more informed AI decisions when marking, tackling, passing and dribbling to present you more every challenge during each game, keeping your career fresh from game to game.
  • New transfer options: Improved transfer realism offers both human and AI-controlled teams new ways to sign players. Make loan-to-purchase offers with future transfer costs to secure new talent for your team, and respond to AI manager-initiated player exchange proposals as you look to support your squad each transfer window.
