As the face mask that you wear when you are in public when in a store feel tight around the ears, when the straps shave your skin, you are not alone. With summer in full force and warmer temperatures around the country, we set out to find the best tips to help keep you comfortable while wearing a face mask or face mask.
Thanks to the coronavirus many states now have face mask mandates. Elk mask or face mask you buy should be made of a breathable fabric, especially if it has multiple layers. The mask should fit well above your nose and below your chin, but not so tight that it literally digs into your face. It is best practice to wash your hands before putting on a mask and after removing it.
Whether you are a homemade face mask as a premade mask, here you can stay comfortable when you are out and about.
Avoid getting your ears rough
Ear chafing of wearing masks has become a common complaint due to the elastic rubbing behind your ears. Some people have become creative and have started making headbands with buttons to hook the elastic loops around.
If wearing a headband is not really your style, you can always try the S-ring heel trick. To attach your face mask, take the loops and place them around each U of the hook. Make sure the S-ring is on the back of your head when you wear the mask. The hook should help your mask fit your face better, as the loops will be pulled tight.
If you do not have an S-ring hook around your house, you can find mask hooks on Etsy in various shapes, sizes and designs. Or place a piece of unfolded fabric between the strap and your ear for pillow.
Use only 100% cotton face masks and wraps
Many people buy 100% cotton sheets for one reason: to stay cool. And that rule applies not only to licks – you should also be on the lookout for face masks made from cotton. The cotton material is considered to have better ventilation and will trap less of the moisture that builds up from breathing and sweating. And because your face mask can have multiple layers, you want to have a material that does not restrict your breathing.
There are also certain materials you want to avoid, such as polyester, which can trap moisture due to its waterproof properties.
Make it smart, not tight
While you want your mask to fit snugly around your face to help prevent respiratory drops from escaping or entering, you do not want it to be so tight that it hurts your face. Even if it is too tight, it gives less space to breathe properly.
Wear your mask around the house before you leave to make sure you will wear it comfortably for a long period of time, or long enough to go to the supermarket, for example. Adjust as needed while you are at home, because the last thing you want to do is adjust your mask and re-adjust when you are in public.
Change your mask if it feels rough
Now that it’s starting to heat up outside, the length of your masks may be shorter all day. This is because the mask can make your face sweat, allowing moisture to be created inside the mask. Once a mask gets wet, it is no longer handy and needs to be changed immediately. Therefore, we suggest that you keep an extra mask with you if you know you will be out for a while.
When you get home, you need to remove your mask thoroughly and put it in the laundry to clean and re-use. For more information, here is more information on how to prevent acne when wearing a face mask.
Be careful with your facial products
If you have dry skin, it is best to take moisturizer before wearing a mask. This can help prevent skin irritation where the mask rubs your face. If you have oily skin, you can avoid wearing a liquid foundation, as this can clog your pores and break out your skin. Not to mention, the foundation can also rub your mask, leading to reduced air filtration, making it harder to breathe.
If you have sensitive skin, you can forget about makeup under your mask and clean your face before and after wearing a mask.
