LA City firefighters responded at the airport at 3:50 p.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Officials said the plane’s left landing gear was not deployed.
Sparks were seen as the plane slid along the runway, with the engine scraping under the left wing against the sidewalk.
One of the two pilots on board sustained non-life-threatening damage while exiting the plane, according to Stewart. The other pilot was not injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation, Stewart said.
Airport officials did not expect any delays due to the incident.
No additional information was released immediately.
