FedEx B767 makes emergency landing at LAX


A FedEx Boeing 767-300 Freighter has made an emergency landing in Los Angeles, sending sparks. The incident occurred after the landing gear malfunctioned, resulting in the left engine scraping against the runway. The flight operated from New York Airport.

The incident happened at 04:50 local time, when the FedEx B767, registered N146FE, landed on Runway 25R. After reporting on the defect of the landing gear at ATC at 03:50, the flight crew advised that they were “Probably hash starts planning for an approach” according to LiveATC recordings.

Upon touchdown, the left engine was seen scraping along the track, causing sparks and flames. One of the pilots on board sustained a leg injury during the incident, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

In a statement to CNN, FedEx said they are “Thank you that our flight crew is safe and that no one was seriously injured.”

“Safety is our top priority, and we are working with researchers to fully understand the issue.”
