FDA announces new deadly toxin found in hand sanitizers, add to reminder

It is almost two months ago that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began recalling hand sanitizers because certain products contained methanol, also called wood alcohol. Since then, more than 100 sanitizers have been recalled by hand.

The FDA on Wednesday announced another toxin that can be as deadly as methanol. This toxin is called 1-propanol, which can depress the central nervous system. The FDA stated that some products are labeled to contain ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, but have tested positive for 1-propanol contamination.
