FDA after 28 dog deaths Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc. No. Sportmix remembers pet food


NEW YORK (WABC) – A pet food company is calling out some dry food products over a potentially deadly ingredient that has been linked to the deaths of dozens of dogs.

The FDA recommends pet owners and veterinarians at Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc. Produced by, Sportmix is ​​warning about pet food.

It can contain lethal levels of la flatoxin – a toxin produced by mold.

At least 28 dogs have died and eight others have fallen ill from the recalled product.

Some of the reported symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, jaundice and diarrhea. In some cases, pets damage the liver but do not show other symptoms.

Pet owners should stop feeding their pets recall products and consult their veterinarian, especially if their pet is showing signs of illness.
