FBI Agent Involved in Shooting at Maryland Metro Train – NBC 4th Washington Washington

Metro and FBI officials say an FBI agent was involved in the early morning shooting on a Metro train early Tuesday and that an investigation is under way.

One man was shot several times and taken to hospital. Information about his identity and status was not immediately released.

Montro Transit police received a report at 7 a.m. of a “FBI agent-related shooting” on a red line train near Montgomery County Medical Center station.

“On the train, sir. One person here injured me, shot,” the metro station manager said on a recording of an emergency call given to authorities.

Metro officials said the man was taken to the hospital from the metro station.

Metro Transit police are investigating the incidents that led to the shooting, and the FBI is only investigating their agent and the shooting, Metro said.

The FBI confirmed the shooting, but did not say what happened or who fired the shots.

They said in a statement that the shooting was under investigation by their inspection department. “The review process is thorough and objective and is carried out as quickly as possible in the circumstances,” the statement said.

The Red Line trains were bypassing the Medical Center station, which is close to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health. Riders were told to expect delays.
