New York City schools will be open Monday, as the city’s seven-day test positivity rate will be below 3%.
Bill Needhardt, a spokesman for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, said in a statement Sunday morning that the-day average test positivity rate is 2.57%.
More references: If test positivity rates exceed 3% or more, city schools could close and students go into all-remote learning, the mayor said earlier.
“Schools are open today based on today’s open day test positivity rate. Again, we expect daily testing of backfill and increase due to the entry of more test results into the system, but do not expect this increase to push today’s 7-day average to 3%. “ Needhardt said in an email.
The mayor said in part, thanking him on Twitter, “Thank you, the schools will be open on Monday, but we will continue to fight with whatever we get.”
In addition to the test positivity rate, at least 937 positive cases of Covid-19 were reported on Sunday and 117 people were admitted to city hospitals, the email said.
