A FATHER is fighting for his life after contracting his son’s coronavirus, who contracted the virus by breaking the blocking rules to reunite with his friends.
John Place, 42, of Plantation, Florida, is in intensive care and was on a ventilator for 13 days.
Each member of his family contracted the virus, but John was the most affected, according to 6 South Florida.
Her symptoms started last month after her 21-year-old son went to a friend’s house and at one point took off his mask.
John’s wife Michelle and the children recovered from the virus after three weeks, but the father of three, who is diabetic, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a constant cough for four days.
John Place has been in the ICU for 13 daysMichelle, who is unable to visit John because he had the virus, said, “I feel like I’m living a nightmare, like it’s a bad dream and you can’t wake up from it.”
When talking about the son visiting his friends, he recalled: “He said, ‘Oh well, they seem to be fine, they are not sick,’ so they took off the masks.”
“So, that’s the instance that he believes, because that same friend told them two weeks later that she was positive.”
She explained how difficult it was to explain to her six-year-old daughter why her dad was not allowed to go home.
Michelle also spoke to 7 News Miami, saying she begged the son to wear a mask.
“I begged him every time I left the house, ‘Please wear your mask, take disinfectant, make sure to wash your hands constantly.’
“He always assured me:” Don’t worry, mom. I’m doing everything right, relax, relax. “You know what these kids are like, so I trusted him.
“You let your guard down just once, it’s all you need. You come home and infect the whole house.”
