Famous chef Rachael Ray, fire for family escape in Lake Lucerne

Famous chef Rachael Ray and her family escaped in a fire that destroyed their home in Lake Lucerne.

The fire at her home in Chuckwagon Trail was reported at about 7.30pm Warren County officials say neither Ray nor anyone else in her family was injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, but it is not believed to be suspected, officials said.

Fire companies from Warren County and neighboring Saratoga County remained on the scene all night.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Ray recorded her show at home.

“Thanks for the concern. Rachael, her husband and their dog Bella are safe,” Ray’s representative Charlie Dougiello told USA TODAY in a statement. “The house is unfortunately damaged and we do not yet know to what extent.”

Ray, 51, grew up in the southern Adirondacks and has maintained a home in Lake Lucerne for several years.

Ray comes from a family of chefs and restaurants – her mother managed the Howard Johnson’s in Lake George for a while – and she started the food business in New York City.

She moved back to Lake George just when she was 30 and started running the pub at the Sagamore Resort. She later worked as a food buyer and chef for the now defunct Cowan & Lobel gourmet food market in Albany. It was there that she came up with the concept behind “30-Minute Meals.”
