Yesterday, we briefly discussed how a change in NFL rules regarding the COVID-19 situation could potentially benefit running back Dalvin Cook if he followed through on his threat to stay out of team activities until he receives a contract extension.
As a result, we were not concerned about anything.
During his press conference to discuss his new contract extension, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer stated that he was told Cook would be at camp when things start Tuesday.
By whom did you tell him? Dalvin Cook.
Zimmer said he expects Dalvin Cook to report to camp on Tuesday even though his camp promised a suspension in June until he reaches a contract extension because Cook told him he would.

I don’t know if this means that some kind of contract extension is nearing completion, but that might be the case. In any case, it doesn’t seem like we’re going to talk about a Dalvin Cook reservation after all.
In another personnel matter, Zimmer said he would “love” to have veteran defensive end Everson Griffen in the fold, but was unaware if there were any conversations between Griffen and the Vikings at this time. He said Griffen had sent him a text message to congratulate him on the length of the contract.
So, there are some Viking related news for this Saturday morning. It looks like everything is on track to start Training Camp on Tuesday, and while we won’t be able to physically be there or anything, we will do our best to give you relevant news as soon as it happens.
