Fall Guys is a lot of fun, but it’s not as fun when the servers are down. Developer Mediatonic is working hard to bolster the servers for the weekend ahead, but in case you find yourself tossing your thumbs in long queues, the Dollar Store Fall Guys, made in Dreams PS4, seems like a useful stopgap.
Sure, Dollar Store Fall Guys miss some of the polish of the real deal, but beggars may not be voters. There are jellybeans to scour over obstacles and across platforms, and if you have Fall Guys fever, take what you can get.
The silly colors are a bit depressing, the beans look like the sink of a Jelly Belly factory, and there is a server capacity of 10 people, but it gets the job done. Plus, as the trailer above demonstrates, you don’t even have to worry about those pesky spinning beams, because you can just waddle under them. And what better way to learn that you’re going for another round than with a misplaced “Qualafied” banner congratulating you on a job well done?
Of course, if you manage to find a match in the real Fall Guys, you should definitely try it. The reviewer of GamesRadar’s Fall Guys called it “as exciting as it is hilarious and as unreasonable as it is colorful”, and praised its “irresistible mix of skill and luck for friends and lighter competitors.”
Check out the Meanwhile Dollar Store Fall Guys on Dreams PS4. At least it’s not so full.
Do not miss our interview with Mediatonic anymore how they created “the perfect mix of chaos and skill” in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.
