It has been a frustrating season for perennial pro bowler Julio Jones. The Atlanta Falcons have lost four games with extensive receiver injuries, as a bad hamstring has turned their play around since early 2020.
Jones is out against the Buccaneers today, and with nothing to play for, Falcons interim coach Rahim Morris has been repeatedly asked if he will keep Jones off for the rest of the season.
But Jones has no plans to do so, a source said.
In fact, Jones received a platelet-rich plasma injection into her bald hamstring after the loss of Saints in early December, a process that has been giving her difficulties all season. It is also a strong indication that he wants to return to the field.
“We’ll see what he can do in the last two games,” Morris said.
Jones is on track for a career low this season. He has just 771 receiving yards on 51 catches with three TDs. Thanks to the injuries, he doesn’t look like himself.
Atlanta faces the Chiefs and Books in the final two games of the season. Since no trip to the Places is possible, and for no other reason than to help Morris claim his full-time job, Jones still hopes to stay out of it. PRP injection should help.
The goal is to speed up healing in injections, using the individual’s own platelet concentrations. It usually takes a few weeks to work, making it possible for Jones to play in the final two games of the year.
