With the health and well-being of all parties involved and to ensure social distancing, the Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday in an email to season ticket members that they will have a limited capacity of up to 10,000-20,0000 in the Mercedes-Benz home stadium. games during the 2020 NFL season.
The reduced capacity of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium complies with state and local requirements, as well as the guidelines for social distancing from the NFL and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In an email survey sent by the organization, season ticket members who are up to date with their payments will be asked if they want to attend home games in 2020, and if so, they will be asked to rate the The Falcons’ first four home games in the order I’d like to attend. Given the speed with which things have changed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Falcons are allowing as much flexibility as possible in case things evolve positively for the past four games at home. If limited capacity remains in place throughout the 2020 season, the Falcons currently anticipate sending a second poll in October for the last four games.
Any future increases in capacity will be determined by the NFL with guidance from the CDC.
In addition to the limited capacity announcement, the Falcons have also informed season ticket members of two new financial options aimed at providing relief from any financial hardship fans may face. According to NFL protocols, all ticket holders must wear facial covering at all times once inside the stadium.
The first financial option is the refund of an extended personal seat license (PSL). Those fans up to date with their 2020 PSL payments can extend their payment terms for one year and will not be charged an interest and early payment in 2021. Fans with a current balance for their 2020 PSL payments may delay those payments until 2021 and extend your payment terms for one year.
In addition to PSL’s extended pay plan, the Falcons will offer season ticket credits. The team will apply 2020 season ticket funds for limited capacity game tickets with any remaining unused credit in a fan’s account as credit for PSL balances or 2021 season ticket payments. Fans will also have the option to receive a refund of unused funds if they so choose.
If a season ticket member decides to keep the season ticket credit in their account, the price of the 2021 season tickets will remain stable, regardless of any attendance at the 2020 home games. For those season ticket members who have paid some or all of the 2020 ticket fees but choose not to attend any games, unused funds in their accounts will be credited to 2021 PSL balances or ticket payments with the option to receive a refund.
