Facebook under fire as companies pause social media ads: List


(Bloomberg) – Here is a list of companies that plan to stop spending on social media. Some have joined the boycott of Facebook Inc. after critics accused the social network of improperly monitoring hateful and misleading content on its platform:

Starbucks Corp. – Pausing advertising on all social media platforms. You will post on social media without paid promotion. Microsoft Corp. – Paused spending on global advertising on Facebook and Instagram due to concerns about ads appearing alongside inappropriate content, according to a person familiar with the matter. Unilever Plc – Stop advertising on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter in the US until December 31. Coca-Cola Co. – Pause advertising on all social media platforms. Cloroox – Will stop spending on Facebook advertising until December. Conagra Brands Inc. – Will stop advertising in the US on Facebook and Instagram for the rest of the year. Ford Motor Co. – By stopping US social media for 30 days, you will not purchase social media ads for the Bronco presentation. Honda Motor Co. – For the month of July, According to Adweek, American Honda will retain advertising on Facebook and Hyundai Motor Co. – Hyundai Motor America will withdraw its Facebook ads, according to the Korea Times.Hershey Co. – Will suspend Facebook spending July and will cut I Spend on the platform by a third for the rest of the year, according to Business Insider.Diageo Plc – Pause advertising pays globally on major social media platforms beginning in July. PepsiCo Inc. – Place ads on Facebook from July to August. Verizon Communications Inc. – “We are pausing our advertising until Facebook can create an acceptable solution that makes us feel comfortable and is consistent with what we have done with YouTube and other partners” said John Nitti, director of media for Verizon. SAP SE: “We will suspend all paid ads on Facebook and Instagram until the company signals a meaningful, action-driven commitment to combat the spread of hate speech and racism on its platforms.” Levi Strauss & Co. – Pausing all payments Facebook and Instagram advertising globally and across brands until July. Diamond Foundry Inc. – Removing all Facebook advertising, including Instagram, for the month of July. Patagonia Inc. – Will withdraw all ads on Face book and Instagram, effective immediately, at least until the end of July, pending significant action from Facebook.Viber Media Inc. – Plans to completely cut ties with the social network, According to The North Face of Guardian.VF Corp. – It will pause the ads on Facebook for the month of July. REI – “For 82 years, we have put people above profit. We are removing all Facebook / Instagram ads for the month of July. “Upwork Inc. – No Facebook ads in July. Eileen Fisher Inc. – Removing Facebook ads until July. Adidas AG – Will stop ads on Facebook and Instagram internationally until July, according to Adweek. Puma SE: Will stop all Facebook and Instagram ads throughout July. Madewell Inc. – Will pause Facebook and Instagram ads until July. Pfizer Inc. – Remove all Facebook and Instagram ads in July, call to Facebook to address concerns of the #StopHateForProfit boycott campaign “and take action.” Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. – Pause Facebook advertising starting July 1, according to an email.
