While we wait for an official announcement, it seems that Facebook has started to implement a dedicated dark theme for some users on mobile devices.
Reports on rival social network Twitter suggest that some users now have the ability to toggle the dark theme when they log into their own Facebook accounts. SocialMediaToday, 9to5Mac) This doesn’t seem to be generalized though, as this seems like a minor test before a much broader implementation.
You may recall that we reported on the development of the dark theme for Facebook on Android earlier this month. It appears that this development phase has now changed to a small test phase for select users on Android and iOS.
After contacting Facebook for comment, the company would only confirm that “they have started testing a very small number of users.” This may not seem like a confirmation, but the fact that this answer was not explicit probably includes Android.

This at least confirms that if you actively use Facebook on Android or iOS, you may be one of the lucky few who can toggle the dark theme on their mobile device. The main Facebook app is actually the latest from the social media firm to add an AMOLED-friendly theme. At least right now, if you simply need to have a dark theme within the app, Facebook Lite is currently a better option.
