ExxonMobil Corp. has promised to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions from its operations over the next five years and eliminate the regular flurring of methane by 2030, responding to pressure from activists and investors to reduce its carbon footprint.

The Texas-based oil company said Monday it would reduce the “intensity” of emissions from its oil-gas production from 15% to 20% by 2025. It does not provide exactly the exact number of total emissions. Will represent a reduction.

The targets are related to emissions that come directly from Exxon’s operations and not from its products, from gasoline and jet fuels. Exxon said it will begin releasing emissions data related to its products next year.
