A former camera assistant on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has claimed that behind the scenes is not much different than the toxic work environment depicted in the flick “The Devil Wears Prada,” according to a report.
The woman, who spoke anonymously to the Australian radio program Stav, Abby & Matt, joined a chorus of employees who spoke out about the culture of the workplace, claiming that workers only engaged in it for fun. of her CV.
‘It’s just like’ The Devil Wears Prada. ‘Everyone is trying to make it to the [end of a] years, ”said the ex-staff member, referring to the Meryl Streep movie in which the star plays a demanding magazine editor, who was often cruel to her assistants.
“It’s just a badge of honor to have that and have it on your resume.”
The ex-worker claimed she often worked 10-hour days on the show – but added the problems were “more than that.”
“They are basic rights; if they are paid overtime, water on a hot day, ”she said. “If you ask for it, you’re told, well, there’s the door.”
Other former staff members have also recently spoken out against the 62-year-old star and her show, claiming she did nothing to interfere in a toxic culture.
Some have claimed that there was racism and sexual abuse on the part of the show’s staff members on seniors.
DeGeneres addressed the allegations in the workplace in a memo to staff, saying she was ‘sorry’ and promised to make changes.
WarnerMedia has since begun an official investigation into the show with the assistance of a third-party company.
