Ex-Obama adviser Ben Rhodes took to Twitter to reduce Israel-UAE peace deal

Ben Rhodes, a former deputy national security adviser to President Barack Obama, received a wave of criticism on Thursday after he tried to restrict a peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

“This agreement describes what the emerging status quo in the region has been for a long time (including the total exclusion of Palestinians),” Rhodes tweeted. “Disguised as the performance of an election night of two leaders who want Trump to win.”

TRUMP ANNOUNCEMENTS ‘HISTORICAL PEACE AGREEMENT’ BETWEEN ISRAEL, UAE

Rhodes is perhaps best known for its proponent of Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal, of which Trump withdrew from the United States in May 2018.

Many Twitter users suggested that Rhodes was bitter about the Trump administration even reaching out to parts of the Middle East Peace Agreement, something the Obama administration denied.

@BenRhodes will be nominated for the #Sour grapes Award, “tweeted KT McFarland, former deputy national security adviser under Trump.

First Chamber Member Ted Cruz, R-Texas, tweeted that the “Obama crew is not happy that this deal is (1) good for Israel, (2) not giving $$ to Iran, and (3) not undermining America.”

The agreement makes the UAE the third Arab country, after Egypt and Jordan, to have full diplomatic ties with Israel.

A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the deal was “betrayed” and should be reversed. In Gaza, Hamas called the deal a ‘stab in the back of our people. ‘
