Everything new in iOS 14 Beta 3: new music icon, clock widget, and more


Apple released the third iOS and iPadOS 14 developer beta this morning for testing purposes, tweaking and refining some of the features and design changes that come in the update.

The changes become less noticeable as the beta testing period progresses, but there are some notable new features in the third beta, which we’ve highlighted below.

New music icon – Apple introduced an updated Music icon that is red and white instead of white and multi-colored.

Music library – The Music app Library section was revised in iOS 14 beta 3, removing some of the red text and adding icons next to the different Playlists, Artists, Albums and Songs sections. The buttons have also been adjusted to be gray instead of red, and the Apple Music widget is red instead of white.


Clock Widget – OSiOS 14‌ beta 3 adds a clock widget to iPhone and iPad that can display a single city or hours from four locations around the world.


Widget popup – When you switch to Widgets for the first time after upgrading to ‌iOS 14‌ beta 3, there is a pop-up window that provides instructions on rearranging widgets.


Application Library Popup Window – There is also a new pop-up window on the App Library that appears when you swipe to open it for the first time after the update.


Start screen popup – When you press and hold the ‌Start Screen‌ to edit apps, OSiOS 14‌ will now inform you that you can hide the ‌Start Screen‌ pages by tapping the dots on the page.


Screen time widget – The Screen Time widget was updated in beta 3 and now shows usage details of the main applications you have used during the day.


Screenshot editing – When you delete a screenshot in ‌iOS 14‌ beta 3, the interface is slightly different.


Snapchat stories – ‌Apple Music‌ songs can now be shared on Snapchat Stories via Share Sheet in ‌iOS 14‌ beta 3.


Memoji masks – There is a new type of Memoji mask in the third beta that looks slightly different.


3D Touch disabled – D3D Touch‌ has been temporarily disabled in beta on 3D Touch enabled devices. Long pressing still works.
