Taylor Swift celebrated the surprise release of her new album by sending FolkloreInspired by cardigans over the weekend to a long list of friends, fans and supporters.
From best friend Martha Hunt and Weird eyeFrom Jonathan Van Ness to Kelsea Ballerini and Jennifer Hudson, many of the recipients turned to social media to express their appreciation for both the welcoming gift and Swift’s latest studio set featuring the first single “Cardigan.”
“Thank you for the cardigan and the beautiful, intricate and mystical new album @taylorswift. Your ability to create unlimited and ever-growing music is the most inspiring,” Ballerini captioned a selfie wearing the cardigan, while Hunt recreated the photoshoot of Swift in wood and grayscale while wearing the sweater. “I knew you tried to change the ending: Peter lost Wendy,” the model wrote alongside the shots, referencing the letters in the final chorus of “Cardigan.”
Meanwhile, pop singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt also posted a thoughtful note on how Swift inspired her to launch her music career while posing in the cardigan. “Thank you @taylorswift for this welcoming gift and for being a great support on my latest album,” he wrote. “I am so grateful to be recognized by the person who inspired me to become a musician. I will always be inspired by you! Folklore is my favorite, but please listen if you haven’t already. The lyrics are so beautiful and I love it new sounds ps when i die please bury me in this cardigan hahaha “.
Each gift came with a personal note from Swift herself: “I hope this cardigan will keep you warm and welcoming in these extremely unpleasant times. I send you a socially distant hug and all my love, Taylor,” she wrote on silver cardstock, which she coordinated with stars embroidered on the sleeves of each cardigan.
Among the other artists who received a sweater from the superstar were Kesha, Adam Lambert, Fletcher, and Loren Gray, the latter of whom made an appearance in Swift’s music video for Lover-It was a single “The Man” earlier this year.
